A Brief History |
My name is Steve Sindelar. I am the President of the Kris “Chili Dog” Frick public
benefit corporation. Kris Frick was my best friend and together we have ridden the
dunes for nearly 20 years on motorcycles, quads, buggies and sand rails.
Our families have grownup here, friendships created and families have grown together
pursuing our common passion of riding the dunes. As you all know a Glamis experience
is more than riding the dunes, it is the trip out, the camping with friends, bonfires
under the desert sky, shared meals and a great environment for our kids to learn
driving skills along with responsibility and an appreciation for the outdoors.
I also believe that each one of us could add our own list of personal gains that
have come from our time in the Glamis Dunes. When Kris died, we learned the hard
way about the limited availability of the effective and timely Emergency Medical
Services out in the Dunes. Now we want to do something to correct this situation.
Our direction was provided by our friend “Chili Dog”.
“Chili Dog” was passionate about everything and his BBQ grill was always open to
whoever stopped by his campsite at Wash 6. There wasn’t a weekend that “Chili Dog”
didn’t add a few more people to his list of friends. He was always looking for ways
for all of us to have a great life experience together.
As I talked with Chili Dogs’ family and friends, it became apparent that we needed
to make a difference, to make a better riding experience for all of us who have
come to enjoy all that Glamis has to offer.
